Espiritualidade e Utopia na "Introdução aos Grandes Autores" de Agostinho da Silva

Between the years 1941 and 1947, the Portuguese intellectual Agostinho da Silva undertook a project of cultural and civic education which entailed the publication of a large number of booklets of various kinds. The series "Antologia. Introdução aos Grandes Autores" [Anthology: An Introduction to Great Authors"], edited and published by Agostinho da Silva, belonged to that project. It comprised authors from a number of periods, languages and nationalities, and contemplated several disciplines and genres, such as fiction, philosophy, chronicles and the sciences. This article appraises the ideological consequence underlying Agostinho da Silva's editorial enterprise, as regards the topics of spirituality and utopianism.
