This essay seeks to read the performative figure of Santa Rita Pintor within the performance studies framework. In this artist, a pre-dada and histrionic disposition can be observed, which came to echo in the portuguese literary avant-gardes of the 20th century. This can be perceived in a performative impetus for the word in the public space that came to mark surrealism and experimentalism. This study focuses on the analysis of two axes that seem to configure the aesthetic action project of one of the pioneers of performance in Portugal: a performative pose associated with speech.
